Media FAQs

What is Beepmo?

Beepmo is a location-based social network for business professionals focused on Asia. Beepmo lets users see the professional profiles of people nearby, helps them network more effectively at conferences and events, and discover business opportunities around them.

Where is Beepmo from?

Beepmo is head-quartered in Singapore.

Who are Beepmo?

Beepmo has two founders; Simon Lower and Mark White. You can read more about them here.

Who are Beepmo’s Investors?

Beepmo is funded by Greencloud Labs a Start-up ‘Idea Lab’ started by Simon and Mark.

When was Beepmo launched?

We launched our public beta on Feb 1st 2012 (so we’re a Dragon Start-up (as in Year of the Dragon :) ).

How do you differ from LinkedIn?

Beepmo is focused on Asia and is focused on the mobile user, whereas Linkedin is primarily US-centric and primarily web-focused. We think of Beepmo as a valuable business utility that is complimentary to Linkedin, for example, right now you need to have a Linkedin account to use Beepmo.

How are you different from Foursquare?

We are focused on improving the way business professionals network and discover new business opportunities whereas Foursquare is social and focused on helping you achieve free coffee / cheap beer etc.

How does Beepmo make money?

Beepmo is a free service for users. We are working on premium features for Event and Conference organisers to help them more effectively engage with their attendees in addition to premium services for users who want even more powerful networking features. These features will be rolled out in stages over the next few months.

How ‘safe’ is Beepmo, i.e. can people see where I am?

Beepmo is totally safe, we put a lot of emphasis on this. First of all we do not show a map of where you are unlike many other location services and apps – only your relative distance to other people. Secondly, as soon as you stop using Beepmo we stop updating your location.

What is Beepmo’s ‘Killer App’?

We think it’s a feature on Beepmo called ‘Ice-breaker’. ‘Ice-breaker’ shows you things you share in common with people you might want to meet by comparing both your profiles on Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter. The basis of ‘Ice-breaker’ is to help you ‘break the ice’ (bing!) and make introductions to new people smoother and ultimately more successful (we’ve learnt this from experience). Learn more.

What new features are you planning?

We are working on getting Beepmo on all major mobile platforms including a web accessible Beepmo for tablets and PCs. Feature-wise we are building features for Event and Conference organisers to give them a rich mobile presence and for them to use as a tool to more effectively engage attendees at their Events.

Do you have screenshots and images that we can use?

We have a page dedicated to this here.
