How is Beepmo different from Foursquare or other location-based social networks?
Beepmo is focused on helping business professionals network more productively, but it doesn’t mean we’re less fun
Can users track my location through Beepmo?
No. Users can only see the distance they are from you the last time you used Beepmo. We don’t provide a map of your location so there is no way for an individual to track you. Beepmo also only updates your location information when you are actively using the Beepmo App. When Beepmo is not being used or is turned off your current proximity to other users will not be shown.
Will using Beepmo kill my phones battery?
No! We specifically built Beepmo with battery power in mind. Unlike most location-based and social discovery applications, Beepmo only switches on your location when you are actively using Beepmo. When you stop using Beepmo or minimise the app we no longer track your location, which is the main drain on battery power.
How do hide my mobile number and email address on my profile?
You can do this during the sign-up process by scrolling down to ‘Profile Settings’ at the ‘Edit Profile’ stage. Here you can chose whether or not to make your Mobile number, Email address or Job Title visible on your Beepmo profile. If you’re already on Beepmo you can tap on the ‘Profile’ tab and tap ‘Edit’ and follow the same instructions.
Is Beepmo available for Android or Blackberry phones?
Currently Beepmo is only available for iPhone and iPod Touch users but we are working on getting Beepmo out to most of the popular mobile platforms. You can register your interest for the Android version here and the Blackberry version here. We’ll make sure to notify you when we release these versions.
Can I use Beepmo on my iPad?
Currently the Beepmo App is optimised for iPhone and iPod Touch users although it can be downloaded and used on an iPad but in an iPhone optimised format.
What is the ‘Ice-breaker’ function on Beepmo all about?
Ice-breaker is a feature that helps you see what you have in common with other Beepmo users. The aim of Ice-breaker is, have a guess… to help you ‘break the ice’ and make a fresh introduction to potential business contacts less painful. Ice-breaker will, for example, tell you if you share a common contact, group, interest or company in your history. We are constantly improving Ice-breaker to cover more categories and make it a even more valuable tool to help you network.

How do I improve my Ice-breaker results with people I’d like to contact?
We strongly recommend you add your Facebook and Twitter accounts to your Beepmo profile. Doing this improves Beepmos ability to show you things you share in common with people you may want to meet.
How do I invite my contacts to join me on Beepmo?
From Version 1.03 of Beepmo, we’ve made it even easier to invite your friends and business colleagues to connect with you and discover local networking opportunities.
When you click on the Contacts tab in the Beepmo iPhone application, the Add Contacts button now takes you to a screen showing a number of new ways to introduce Beepmo to your contacts.
In addition to inviting colleagues and contacts from your LinkedIn and Facebook accounts, you can also invite directly from your iPhone’s address book as well as popular Webmail accounts.
The list of webmail accounts supported in this new release is comprehensive, featuring Gmail, Windows Live, Hotmail, Yahoo and also (given our strong Indian userbase) Rediff and Indiatimes accounts.
By entering your email address and the password you use to access your webmail account, you’ll be taken to a list of contacts from whom you can select all or only some to invite to join you on Beepmo.
Each selected friend or colleague will then receive a personalized invitation to join Beepmo, by downloading the iPhone application and browsing and connecting with nearby business professionals.
Beepmo’s community of business professionals is growing daily, and by integrating webmail accounts it is now even easier to share the local networking opportunities with your friends.
I see lots of People Nearby, how do I filter to see only people that are relevant to me?
Tap the filter icon on the right-hand corner of the People Nearby menu on the People Nearby tab. This will take you to the filter page which lets you filter People Nearby by Proximity, Company, Industry or Job Title.

Can I add a users details straight to my phones contacts?
Yes you can, but you need to be a Beepmo connection of that user first! Once you’re connected go to their profile and tap on the address book icon. Their details will be automatically imported into your phones contacts!
What is the Events tab for?
The Events tab shows you Events that are or will be happening nearby your current location. Some of these Events might be happening currently or in the near future. The Events tab lets you see Events you might be interested in attending.
Why would I ‘like’ an Event?
You might ‘Like’ an Event if it’s an Event you’re interested in or are going to attended. ‘Liked’ Events appear in the Events tab under Popular Events Nearby. This indicates Events that other Beepmo users may be attending and that you might also consider as a good networking opportunity.
Can I set which of my social networks Beepmo auto-posts to?
Absolutely. Within the Beepmo app, go to your profile and tap edit. Under ‘Social Network Settings’ you can individually control which of your networks you wish Beepmo to auto-post to.
